The swanky Connaught Bar at the hotel by the same name in Mayfair is where you go to celebrate a special event or just to celebrate your fabulous self. Nestled within their extensive cocktails menu is a gem of a mocktails section called “Innocence,” with some of the most beautiful and inventive drinks I have tasted in London. Even though my drink didn’t have alcohol in it, it was made with the same care and attention to detail as my friend’s cocktail. It was so vibrant and flavourful and the presentation so sophisticated that I didn’t yearn for their famed Martini Trolley rolling by or the expensive champagne being poured in vintage 1920s crystal glasses.
The absolute highlight of the Innocence menu was the Chill Out with homemade chili syrup. This drink had natural heat from the chili with the sweetness of fresh passionfruit (see photo) and reminded me of Asia. It was so good that my non-teetotal friend still talks about how good my mocktail was, which makes me a bit smug, I must admit. I also highly recommend the Tea – Rinfresco with pear nectar, ginger syrup and Jasmine tea.
Cocktails and mocktails here are priced on the higher end but worth every penny because you are paying for ambiance and high-quality drinks. It really is an experience. I was seated next to none other than Lindsay Lohan that night, and I’m so glad I was sober to notice.
Price range: Cocktails cost GBP17-GBP21 while mocktails are GBP9.50
